A British lottery ticket holder has scooped a massive £63.8 million share of a EuroMillions jackpot – making them the sixth British EuroMillions winner so far this year.
The UK National Lottery called on players to check their tickets as nobody had yet come forward to claim the prize.
The win places the ticket holder among the likes of other multi-million-pound jackpot winners, including Colin and Chris Weir from Scotland, who in July 2011, won £161 million – the biggest-ever EuroMillions jackpot prize.
Other big EuroMillions winners include an anonymous ticket holder who scooped £113,019,926 in October 2010, and Dave and Angela Dawes from England, who claimed £101,203,600 in October 2011.
The £63.8 million share of the EuroMillions jackpot came to be because of a double-rollover – last Friday six people won £266,505.80 each after matching five main numbers and one lucky star, but no one matched all seven to claim the £106 million jackpot.
The British ticket holder will share the total £127 million jackpot with another winner from Belgium.
The win takes the total won by British ticket holders so far this year to £256.3 million.
A spokesperson for Camelot, operators of the UK National Lottery, stated: “Lady Luck is clearly shining down on the UK once again with another big EuroMillions win this year – the sixth jackpot win this year.
“We’re absolutely delighted that a UK ticketholder has scooped a £63.8 million share of this massive jackpot, alongside one ticketholder in Belgium.
“We’ve got the champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the ticketholder into the National Lottery millionaires’ club.”
The exact amount won by the UK ticketholder was £63,837,543.60.
